The Dallas District Golf Association aims to promote the best interest and true spirit of golf. (See "Purpose" for more information) The DDGA is open to all golfers at country clubs and golf clubs in Dallas and surrounding counties with established USGA handicaps. Annual dues are $30. (To receive information, "Info") The DDGA has added a team competition to its schedule for 2008. It will be called the Dallas Cup, sponsored by Dallas Golf, and will be played in a series of 10 events with the top four teams qualifying for the finals. Other events will include an individual championship played in a Stableford point system plus member-guest events in the spring and fall, the DDGA 4-Ball and the Dallas Mixed. (See "Schedule") The DDGA provided college scholarships to deserving youngsters through its Graham Ross Scholarship Foundation for 32 years, awarding more than $150,000 in assistance for deserving students. Then in 2003 the DDGA renamed the event the DDGA Charity Classic and have honored Cotton Dunn, Eldridge Miles, Dennis Ewing, Herb and Suzanne Pohl and Rives McBee with scholarships in their honor, upping grant totals to more than $200,000. The Northern Texas PGA currently runs the event and the scholarship program. Jerry Andrews is the latest honoree. James McAfee, who was executive director of the Northern Texas PGA for 17 years and who also was an editor with Golf Digest Magazine, enters his eighth year as executive director.
